Will G8 leaders bluff again at this year’s Summit?
What better way to start the week of the G8 Summit, than gambling at a casino!
Well that’s what Oxfam’s Big Heads (representing the G8 leaders) were up to yesterday at Cercle de jeu Clichy Monmartre in Paris. The scene was set, and reporters poured in to see the message that Oxfam was sending: G8 aid commitments… who bluffs?
After discovering that G8 leaders were cooking the books and had under-delivered on their previous aid commitments, we needed to take a stand and hold them accountable. Otherwise, it’s like they are playing a game with the lives of the poorest people.
