At any given time, we are responding to over 30 emergency situations. We provide life-saving essentials in the immediate aftermath of a natural disaster and to people affected by conflict, as well as long-term development support. You can help.
We’ve not just at the beginning of a new campaign, we’re at the beginning of a new conversation. Food is a part of all of our lives. It’s something we all have a stake in. We want your input, your thoughts and experiences to help us develop and GROW the conversation.
Food – It’s literally the stuff of life yet so many people don’t get enough of it – 1 in 7 of us in fact. This number is fairly shocking on its own, but it gets even worse when you realize that there is enough food in the world to feed every single one of us. These are big issues that affect all of us.
Oxfam’s new campaign GROW: Food.Life.Planet is about this essential ingredient to life and about all of us who eat it. It can be easy to feel like we have little to do with the way food is produced, distributed and consumed. But we do. We are all part of the system and so we all have a part to play in setting it right.
This may seem complicated – and in some ways, it is. But it’s also about the experiences that each and every one of us has, and the choices we make. By sharing these, we can also share ideas about the solutions – and work together to GROW a better future.
Whether you’re a gourmand or someone who sees food as just fuel, you’re bound to have a favorite. Often, what we like is closely linked to our culture and heritage. For instance, the Oxfam team went out on the street in Mexico City recently asking people about their favorite foods. Unsurprisingly, Enchiladas and chilaquiles were strong favorites.
Do your food preferences echo your culture and heritage, or are they out of the mould – do you long for the flavors of home, or those of far away?
Tell us what your favorite food is and why you like it. Add a comment below, or tweet it to us, or blog about it!
