On Saturday April 16, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador killing hundreds of people, leaving thousands wounded and causing severe damage to infrastructure. Access to safe drinking water and storage, as well as shelter is urgently needed. With your help we can reach the most vulnerable populations with vital assistance.
Typhoon Haiyan was the strongest storm in the world this year and quite possibly the most powerful to ever hit land. Thousands are feared dead, and local emergency food stocks are dwindling.
We are urgently trying to reach 500,000 people affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Our priority is to reach the most vulnerable families with safe water and sanitation facilities.
As of 17 November, the UN estimated that:
- 10 - 12.9 million people have been affected in nine regions
- four million people displaced
- 1,560 evacuation centers
- 628 schools damaged.
